HSS hobbing/milling cutters (such as M2, M35, and S390) are widely used in conventional gear machining due to their good toughness and cost-effectiveness. Carbide hobbing cutters, with WC and Co as their core materials, possess extremely high hardness and wear resistance, making them particularly suitable for machining hardened gears (HRC50-62).
